My own love of horses:
When I was little it was my dream to have a pony and to live in the countryside. I used to watch endless episodes of Black Beauty wishing that the heroine was me. Now, I live on a stables and have the opportunity to take children’s portraits with their horses. Now all I need to do is learn to ride myself!
Deciding on a theme:
I photographed this children’s portrait session at the end of our long hot Summer in late September. When I spoke to Mollie and Jay’s mother she told me that they spent a lot of time out door, running about the countryside and looking after their horses. So we decided that it would be great to capture these special moments and take some portraits with their horses.
Where we met:
We arranged to meet at their stables, and took these photographs just as the day was coming to a close. The light was lovely and we were fortunate to have such great weather in September. The following day it rained all day!
Where we went:
Mollie and Jay were on great form, we wandered across the fields looking at the buttercups and wild flowers. Jay brought round the horses for me to see and Mollie fed “Prince” some apples and wasn’t afraid to tell him to behave himself.
It was really nice to spend some time with these lovely children and have the opportunity to take some equine portrait shoots.
What they thought of the final images:
