Alice in Wonderland:

This week’s blog is entitled Child portrait session Hartfield, East Sussex. The little girl, Tulah, really reminded me of Alice in wonderland and so we loosely used this idea for the inspiration of the session. I had considered props, costume and photographic trickery, but after a lot of consideration, decided on the essence of Alice, in order to bring out the real “Tulah”.

How we decided on clothes:

Tulah’s mum and I discussed the style of portrait and were both in agreement on the Alice theme, and after a bit of internet window shopping decided on this gorgeous blue dress by those lovely people at Lindy Bop. (I also ended up buying quite a few dresses on sale for Amelia next year)

How the session went:

I was so pleased with how the session went. I met Tulah and her mum in Hartfield, a short ramble away from the place I had in mind. Of course, it started to rain as soon as we met up, and we wondered how long we had. But as these things happen, the rain stopped, the sun came out, and we had a good hour’s shooting.

Feedback:

Taking photos is my passion, and that I am able to share that with others is really important to me. So to receive this email from Tulah’s parents after I had shown them the final edits really made me very happy.

“I’ve been meaning to email you all day to say the photos are amazing!!! We loved them. Thank you so much : ))
Really beautiful. You are so very very talented. I love them. Thank you!! “

We might not be able to go back, but we can have a mini adventure taking some photos to look back in years to come and remember the we we once were.
