Child Portrait Session on Ashdown Forest

Child Portrait Session on Ashdown Forest

My child portrait session on Ashdown Forest was with 5 year old Elliott. I took a his brother’s portrait this time last year, so he was really looking forward to what I had planned. As soon as I arrived, he took my hand and asked if we were going to play hide and seek.

So during our time together we played hide and seek, looked for conkers, dragged big sticks around and played aeroplanes. All the while he chatted to me about his recent birthday, his school friends, his brother and before knew it we were heading back to the car to find his mum.

I aim for all my portrait sessions to be relaxed and fun in order to capture images that show their real character and personality. I was so pleased to hear from Elliott’s mum that he had wanted to do it all again. I’m really looking forward to seeing their favourite images in print, just waiting for them to come back from the lab.

I found it difficult to choose an image for my Just a Glance, but in the end I chose this one, which was the last photo of the day. Elliott jumping as high as he could into the air. I love his energy in this, and all the Autumn colours around him in the beautiful setting of Ashdown Forest.
